Authentic Red
Gnarly Head Authentic Red is a big, bold Zinfandel-led red blend that hails from a true grit American town: Lodi, California, where gnarled, old vines are pruned in a wild, mop-topped way called “head trained” – our true gnarly heads. These heroic old vines produce scant clusters of small-berried fruit, resulting in intensely flavored, authentic wines with concentrated dark fruit flavors.
To create our new Authentic Red, we’ve blended our densely flavorful Zinfandel with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah to deliver a massively juicy core of ripe blackberry and spice. Pair it with boldly flavored foods like steak, grilled chops of BBQ.

I have always had headache problems with Red wine and even many whites. A friend brought this over and to be polite I had a glass – NO HEADACHE! I tried it a second, third and fourth time – still no headache. I am thrilled to be able to drink a red wine comfortably.
My new favorite wine!
I am new to wine. I have tried a couple things. Your authentic red is awesome! I found my match:)
a very good wine. a nice blend of zin, merlot, cab, and petite sirah – not sweet, and not too dry, and it’s red. how can you go wrong!
The Old Vine is my favorite. Rich deep flavor. Awesome anytime and any season!
I was browsing my local wine store that knows I like reds (typically a spicey malbec). I think I probably looked like I wanted some new. He said “trust me” and handed me a bottle of your authentic red. I’m addicted to this now. Over the holidays I’ve passed it out as gifts and everyone loves it. I have a cabernet girl stuck on it and an elementary white zin gal loving it. FYI – it goes amazing with an authentic Italian, cheesey, saucy pizza.
I love this wine!
First discovered Gnarly Head Merlot at a Chinese restaurant and thought it was great even though I rarely like Merlot, usually too soft and blah for me. Then when a market had the Gnarly Head Zinfandel on sale, I bought a few bottles of the Zin. It was great, full bodied and powerful just the way I like my red wine. Soon, the Authentic Red came out and that has been my favorite ever since. It’s a big, bold intense wine with a great mouth feel. It has become my favorite wine,
This by far has become one of my favorite wines! I Love the bold taste, and how the flavor remain’s on your taste buds for a while after. Rich in taste, body and scent! I love it, great with everything! Thank you!
I grabbed a bottle of this on a whim over the weekend and it was DELICIOUS. Easy to drink, versatile, and very, very tasty.
I had this wine for the first time last night paired with lasagna. I LOVED it!
